H1 tag relevancy from SEO point of view

From ages its is fed into every SEO that H1 tag is like god and the most important on page factor from SEO point of view. But the very fact the actual asset of  H1 tag is the large font size which we all know can easily be converted into 10px with the almighty  powerful CSS.

Now we all know that search engines are not fool and they are much smarter then we think they are. Latest research has shown that H1 tag or even other header tags even if used effectively and in the right manner cannot get you ranking, or in other word i would just say that a page without them can beat you in and out for the same term.
