Hi!!
I do agree with the article. But there are some more things which we need to follow:
(1) Submitting a link in a free for all (FFA) websites is also dangerous.
(2) Content should be good. What I have found is even if the content is not having the targeted keywords but the quality is good then 99% chances are there to get your listed even for more potential keyword which you might not think of.

please also add one tip like over directory listing or link exchange as well as submission through software also creates problem for site.

Now See 6th Point “Exchangin links with link farms”
Spelling mistake - Exchanin should be Exchanging
